Briarfield Gardens 1

On one day in April and in June each year, the gardens at Briarfield and at Burton Manor open tothe public, with plant sales and teas available.

Money from teas goes to Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Briarfield can be visited by prior appointment at any time of the year.  Call 0151 336 2304 to arrange a visit.

Many of the most colourful displays in the garden need to be seen outside April and June.

Briarfield’s garden nestles on a sheltered south-facing sandy slope and is home to many specialist plants, some available in the plant sale.

Colourful shrubs, bulbs, alpines and several water features compete for your attention as you wander through four distinctly different gardens. There’s always something new.

Seasonal highlights

Briarfield Gardens 2

February/ March : The garden is remarkably colourful with drifts of snowdrops, aconites, cyclamen coum, camellias, magnolias, and early rhododendrons.
April/ May: The spring sees carpets of spring flowers, including erythroniums, uvularia and trilliums flower beneath flowering shrubs.
June/ July: Summer sees the herbaceous flowers complementing lilies and roses. It’s a riotous time in the garden with bold colours and evocative perfumes.
August/ September: Eucryphia, oxydendron, massed sedums, drifts of colchicum and cyclamen hederifolium drift into the colours of autumn.
